Coconut oil is a very large part of my life. I pretty much use it on a daily basis. I own a one liter tub of organic coconut oil from Costco. Today I will be sharing the things I use coconut oil for.
1. Hair Mask
Coconut oil makes a fantastic hair mask. It is ultra hydrating and it gives my hair a beautiful shine. Once a week, I slather on a bunch of oil into my hair from the roots to the ends. Then I put my hair into a bun and keep it overnight and wash my hair the next morning. I personally like to keep the oil in my hair overnight, but leaving it in for about 30 minutes will also do the job. When I wash it out, it can be a bit difficult, but I use a clarifying shampoo and that seems to do the job. I really relied on coconut oil after I got my hair dyed because my hair was very dry. The oil helped bring the moisture and shine back into my hair.
2. Makeup Remover
Coconut oil also makes a great makeup remover. Using oil on the face can be scary, but it is not. Coconut oil is very gentle and removes my makeup, even the waterproof stuff. I usually take about a dime-size amount of coconut oil and massage it onto my face and my eyes. I then wet a washcloth with hot water and wipe the oil off. Because I have super sensitive and combination skin, most nights I won't even use a cleanser afterwards. Its great because it does not irritate my eyes or my super sensitive skin.
3. Moisturizer
Coconut oil is a great way to moisturize your skin, especially in these cold, winter months. After I get out of the shower, I will moisturize my skin with the oil and it helps my ashiness a lot. It is lightweight, but it will leave a light oily feeling, but that doesn't really bother me.
4. Shaving Aid
Coconut oil is also a great replacement to shaving cream. If I ever need shaving cream, I use coconut oil instead. It is a great aid to shaving and also leaves your legs super soft.
5. Exfoliator
By adding a little sugar into coconut, you can create a wonderful body scrub. The sugar will add the exfoliating factor and the coconut oil will leave your skin very soft.
These are the things that I currently use coconut oil for, but I am sure if you want more ideas you can look up some more uses for coconut oil online. There are probably hundreds of other uses.
